heart of the cabin - block 1

This is the first block for the heart of the cabin cyber workshop. I have generally got the same colours for the dark family but have moved into the rust colours for the alternate family. I had to use a cording thread for the hearts in log 1 as we do not get the renaissance threads in New Zealand. Still I think it looks okay and we are using varities that work as we go. I have not put the beads in as I thought I would do that last as I may have to source special beads from USA. I have enjoyed this and have done most of the log 1 in block 2. very slow progress I know but hoping over the summer holiday to continue with more.

yea! its a sale

I have signed the contract to sell the old house so in a couple of months it will all be done. yeah
The new blinds for the dining area should be installed in a couple of weeks so that will almost finish the interior work and then it is to get the new furniture.
marilyn has just purchased a new dining room table and chairs and I think I am going to get the same chairs - already have my table.
Then it is to get new furniture for the conservatory and also a pull out bed for the work room, spare room needs a new headboard and then I think I am done until they talk me into a bigger television.

Garden pictures

Here is the garden. It is grassed and now just needing the garden beds to be planted.
This is the backing pad for the car at the front of the house. this was the grass that layne planted - not great but Mr Smillie is going to fix it next spring.

The street verge. Looks much better now that it has been relaid with readylawn and all the concrete and rubble removed.

The back lawn area. The rhodo will look all right once the dirt is smoothed out and I might lay some limestone chips around it to improve the look.

curtains

I have been informed that I forgot to post the pictures of the curtains so here are the only ones I have done so far.

The bedroom curtains are the same fabric but in cream. I have a curtain in my room but roman blinds in each of the other rooms. I am getting a curtain for the door in the lounge soon.

Garden Update

I have been really busy shifting dirt to the garden beds and also to even out the lawn planted by the landscaper. Biggest mistake in the house to date but eventually it will be sorted I hope. Last weekend my friend Shellie offered her morning to assist with shifting some of the dirt and we struck a big root - Landscaper told me it was too big to shift but we dug it out - Shellie's version - they were too lazy to do any digging. Her husband came and assisted us towards the end so we have shifted enough dirt to build up the lawn so now you will not fall off the edge of the patio - kim and raewyn.
This weekend being a long weekend and holiday I have shifted more and also spread some over the lawn area to try and even out the lawn. Not very impressed with the guys doing the lawn as it is not very smooth.
Brenton and Keith - Shellie's sons came this morning and dug over the last little bit of the old house so that tomorrow night I can plant the grass. It is kind of smooth but needs a bit more leveling I think tomorrow night before I plant.

Gardens started.

I have been doing the gardens at the moment as it was about 27 - 30 degrees today so got a bit burnt. School starts in earnest tomorrow and I think I will be stiff.
The front lawn is starting to grow and I am intending to put a bit more dirt on so the bricks are covered better.
